Cleber's Arboreal Rice Rat image unavailable. |
The Cleber's Arboreal Rice Rat was first reported by Locks in 1981. It inhabits Brazil and is also endemic to this country. This particular species is currently (2003) listed as an endangered species. Their population is in decline as they are preyed upon by animals. Habitat destruction plays another important factor in their decline. It is of the Oecomys genus, rats in this genus are arboreal rice rats or bicoloured rice rats. This rat is rare to see in the wild, and thus little research has been carried out on this particular species.
